1 can frozen crabmeat
1 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 c. med. white sauce (recipe follows)
1/4 c. bread crumbs
Thaw crabmeat (approximately 2 hours at room temperature).
Prepare medium white sauce and add 3/4 cup of the cheese.
Combine white sauce and crab and put in an oven proof dish. Sprinkle the remainder of cheese and the bread crumbs over top. Bake at 400 degrees until brown, about 10 minutes.
4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. paprika
2 c. milk or half and half
In heavy 1 quart saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add flour, salt, pepper and paprika; continuing over low heat, stir together until smooth. Gradually stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly until thickened and smooth.
