GRANNIE’S GINGERBREAD

1 c. butter, melted

2 c. sugar
1/3 c. dark molasses
2 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. ground nutmeg

1 tsp. ground cloves

1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda
2 large eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour

In large bowl of electric mixer, combine butter, sugar, molasses, salt and all the spices.

Blend well (use medium speed).

Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add to sugar mixture.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

Add flour, beat until well blended.

Pour batter into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

Bake at 325°F for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
Can be served with your favorite lemon sauce, whipped cream or simply from the pan.
